Square stock-adjustment history
Square's inventory history shows quantity adjustments for supported plans and workflows. It answers stock questions such as why a count changed; it is not the same as a version history for names, prices, taxes, categories, modifiers, or location availability.

Archived items
Archiving hides an item from active use while preserving its item data and stock history. It is a strong native choice when an item might return. It does not explain the sequence of edits made while an item was active.

Manual Item Library exports
A native Square export is a point-in-time file. Square recommends saving a distinct copy before bulk changes, which makes exports a valuable safety practice. They only capture the moments when somebody remembers to create and label them.

CatalogTrail's supported change history
After connection, CatalogTrail records supported catalog versions and organizes them around the item. A seller can inspect the latest recorded setup, follow an item's timeline, compare saved versions, and retain the last recorded details after deletion.
CatalogTrail can show when it recorded a change and the fields that changed. It should not name the person responsible unless Square provides reliable attribution for that event.
